If you’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting a day-old newborn baby, you’ll know what a precious time it is for this new little family. Meeting Elijah so fresh out of his mother’s womb was an honour and a privilege for me, one that I will always hold dear to my heart. I met him on Mother’s Day, no less, because this baby decided he wouldn’t miss such a special day by sticking to the schedule.
He blessed his mommy with the best Mother’s Day gift and his daddy was absolutely doting on his son during my visit. There is something so tender, so delicate about those first few moments together as a family.

Meeting Elijah for the first time was incredible, hearing him cry for the first time stirred this need inside of me to immediately want to hold and protect my little one. Seeing him for the first time was so wonderful, it was amazing to finally see his gorgeous little face. We were at peace seeing this perfect little being that God had blessed us with and to finally be able to call us a family.
Mark took to being a Dad so easily. I had to be in recovery for quite some time so Mark was the first to feed him, change him, and he even gave Elijah his first bath. Mark is such an incredible daddy. He is always helping with nappy changes, bathing etc. just wish he could breastfeed, haha!
Mark is a movie fanatic, and when watching “The book of Eli” years ago, he said he really likes the name and wouldn’t mind naming his son Eli one day. Being Christians we liked the name Elijah, as it means ‘the Lord is my God’.
Being at home with Elijah is amazing. We are constantly learning from each other. I’m definitely sleep deprived, but its so worth it. I must admit I do find myself staring at this gorgeous child while I should be sleeping, but I’m just in awe that he really is here, and that he is my son. So blessed!
I saw a saying somewhere recently that said being a mother is like seeing your heart living outside of your body… this is exactly how I’m experiencing motherhood! And how blessed I was to celebrate my first Mother’s Day with my day old bundle of joy!
