“Family, where life begins and love never ends”
It isn’t lost on me what a privilege it is to tell the story of my own family. I believe it to be a great honour to be able to share their great love for one another, to put their story into words and photographs, and to help them remember this time in their lives with as much detail as possible.
My brother, sister-in-law, and precious niece are eagerly awaiting baby brother’s arrival in just a few weeks. What a precious journey they are on.
My wife and I did a pregnancy test as soon as we suspected she was pregnant. Even more excitement was shared when we found out our baby was a boy as we already have the most precious daughter, Jessica, and I’ve always wanted a boy to play rough and tumble with.
What does being a dad mean to you?
Being a Dad is not as simple as making a baby! Being a Dad is both the most rewarding and most difficult job a man can get. A Dad protects his family but must also let his children make mistakes so that they can learn valuable life lessons.
A Dad’s job may seem as if it has no benefits at times, but when you look into your child’s eyes, all the benefits become very clear! Being a Dad is a sure chance at being loved unconditionally and a chance to love unconditionally. And most of all, being a Dad means that a tiny little soul has the power to wrap a Dad around their little finger.
What kind of sister do you think Jessica will be to baby brother?
She will be a fantastic older sister! She already loves playing with toy babies so she will be thrilled to have a real baby in the house.
What do you look most forward to most when first meeting baby brother?
To see his boy parts so that I’m assured he is a boy!
What do you look forward to most with having a little boy in the family?
All the sport that we can enjoy together! Whether he is playing and I’m supporting, or watching together.
What are your wishes for baby brother?
My wish for you is to have compassion for others, to always laugh and see the silver lining in every cloud, to be comfortable with who you are, to chase your dreams and to be healthy throughout your life on earth.
What do you hope to teach him as his dad?
To be thoughtful of others, to be accountable, respectful, honest, affectionate and active.
And there you have it, baby brother’s maternity story as told by dad. We can’t wait to lay eyes on his handsome face and to guess who in the family he looks like most. Baby brother, you are already so loved!
