Who would have thought a weekday razzle at the Rat and Parrot in Grahamstown would lead to the marriage of two beautiful souls, exactly five years later, to the day? Certainly not Duncan and Sarah. But, thankfully, here we are, introducing Mr and Mrs Stodart.
Sarah and Duncan’s wedding day spoke so much to them as a couple. Duncan, with his degree in botony and microbiology, and Sarah, with her love of running and the outdoors, made Val Bonne Country Estate, situated in the Modderfontein Nature Reserve, the ideal venue for their nuptials. Their love of nature carried on through their decor – the ivy on each table was freshly harvested from Sarah’s parent’s garden – and their thank you gifts were basil and thyme seeds. Both Sarah and Duncan are of Scottish descent and so kilts were plentiful and Sarah walked down the aisle to the tune of live bagpipes – I had goosebumps!
Sarah and Duncan, the two of you are truly wonderful. There was so much love and joy present on your special day and it was an honour to witness and document your first day as Mr and Mrs Stodart. Steven and I wish you a lifetime of happiness and adventure.
Green ivy, freshly picked from Sarah’s parents’ garden decorated each table.
Sarah’s engagement ring is a family heirloom.
The bridesmaids couldn’t help but smile as they saw Sarah in her wedding gown for the first time. Precious!
