In September we took a road trip to Dullstroom with our dear friends Shene and Leandro to show them the magic of this little town. We were treated to the last cold spell of winter which meant we could cosy around a fire, roast coconut marshmallows, and we were able to embrace the wonderland Dullstroom is in the colder months.
The plan for Saturday was to take a leisurely hike to a nearby rock pool and have a picnic lunch in the middle of nowhere. Well, the weather had entirely different plans. We changed our hike location and almost got blown off the mountain at the same time. Nevertheless, we persisted and managed to find a calm spot behind some trees to enjoy our picnic in the sunshine.
Our weekend was filled with exploration – Dullstroom has the sweetest little stores and cafes. Our highlights have to be dinner Mrs Simpsons (always the best food and service), our hike up the mountain in the Dullstroom Nature Reserve, the Birds of Prey Centre (we visit every time we go to Dullstroom), Bohobo Bohemian Cafe (they have awesome live music and a great vibe). We also adored our little Airbnb house, The Eyrie.
