What an absolute treat it was to spend the morning with the Farinha family, gushing over precious Valentino. Mama Michelle and dad Renaldo are such naturals at parenthood, it’s unreal. They have taken this new chapter of their lives completely within their stride and it’s so apparent when you see how chilled out their little man is.
Usually I schedule newborn sessions before baby is two weeks old but baby Valentino was exactly a month old when I came to visit, and, I must say, I absolutely loved it. He was so alert and interactive with his parents which was incredibly sweet to see. In case you didn’t already know, I adore my job!
I asked mama Michelle to answer a few questions of what life has been like with baby Valentino so far.
What has been the highlight of being a parent so far? Waking up to his adorable face every morning and realising how blessed we are to have such a beautiful miracle in our lives. It’s such an honour to have the opportunity to be a parent. When he hold my finger with his tiny hand and looks at me with his big blue eyes it just melts my heart and makes me feel loved and honoured to be this little boys mommy.
What has it been like seeing Renaldo as a parent? When he tries to calm Valentino down it’s sometimes very entertaining as you will literally try anything possible from singing, to words of encouragement, to playing music. Seeing Renaldo’s face light up and how proud he is to be a dad and how he just wants to be involved and help me in anyway possible and to be open to trying new things as a first time parent as there are a lot of firsts with a newborn. It also inspires him to do better in his career, to provide for his family, but he says not matter how bad his day is when he thinks about Valentino it makes his day better.
The moment he was born was the most incredible moment that cannot be described in words. It was truly unforgettable. The moment I held him for the first time and his eyes looked into my soul. When he pulls his cute faces or when he giggles in his sleep it’s just the cutest thing ever. The way he sucks his dummy and the different ways he places his hands is just the sweetest.
The amount of love he has received from friends and family before he was born and even after has been so amazing. I never knew how much love and support we had until we received well wishes and congratulations messages from friends and family. It was truly overwhelming and we feel so blessed as a family.
To our Valentino,
You were the child that mommy and daddy had prayed for and watching you grow inside my tummy and feeling you move and kick in my womb I will treasure those moments forever. We are so blessed to have you in our lives. You were the prayer that got answered. You have brought so much happiness and live into our lives and we are so excited to watch you grow. You are loved by so many people.
My wish for you is that you grow to be kind to every person you meet, to chase after your dreams, to never give up during trying times but to have faith that you will get through it. I hope that you will have faith that can move mountains, a generous heart, a spontaneous, fun, loyal and crazy personality like your dad. You always live life to the fullest, live in the moment and travel to as many countries as you can. I pray for success and that one day your life will be everything you want it to be and more.
We love you so much and look forward to celebrating every milestone with you and watching you grow and make us proud.
Lots of love,
Mom and Dad
